Ganesh Pooja, its one of the festivals where there should be no limit on number of people to join the celebration. The ambiance itself is mind- blowing. A cheerful crowd and Ganesh aarti's - prayers around, anybody will lose the counciosness for a while. You feel like enjoying the devine nature.
At University of Illinois , Chicago , we celebrate the "Ganesh Pooja" every year with great enthu and dedication. All Ghati( Marathi) public and also people from other places celebrate the festival at 1018 S. Oakley . This yaer also we celebrated the festival on September 10th.
It was marvelous ! We 5-6 organizing committee members had to go for 4-5 night- outs for the decoration and other management stuff. Around 50 people had come and it was really good to see that everybody was really enthu about it.
We had sung many chorus " Ganesh Prayers" . We had arranged delicious lunch as a part of " Prasadam". Everybody had brought delicious food as a part of the potluck. There were few new faces as in case of every year. It was nice to have a good rapport with all. It turned out in strengthening the unity among the members of the group.
As compared to any other "Ganesh Pooja"celebration at other US universities , we had a big celebration and fun... atleast it was one of the biggest !You can find the photos of the celebration here...There is a video at the end.

Years have passed since " Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak" had started the festival for uniting all the Indians to fight out for freedom against the British Govt , but even now its being celebrated in every part of the world where we have Marathi People with great enthu... !!
No doubt we still love to cherish our cultural traditions. Festivals like Ganesh Pooja, Durga Pooja, Diwali, Dashara replenish our moral and cultural strength. In other words they rejuvenate us every year. This is something that unites us all ....May Lord Ganesh bless U all with peace and prosperity !

Its amazing to hear that shree Ganesh is worshiped in Chicago as well. Here in Mumbai, there's one famous temple of shree Ganesh at titwala. This temple is known as Mahaganpati temple & is known to fulfill wishes of devotees. Came across something interesting on that Titwala Ganesh Temple at
